What is Passport ?
A passport is a document which by its nature and purpose is a political document for the benefit of its holder. it recognizes him as a citizen of the country granting it and is in the nature of a request to the other country for his free passage there. There can, therefore, be no doubt that a passport is a document of importance for travel abroad and is of considerable value to the holder.
passport is an identity of a person during his stay in foreign country, the nationality of person is not recognised in other country. So without a passport a person cannot be permitted to move into another country. Passport can be used basides identity or recognition, for different purposes.
Passport Requirements
The following are the Passport requirements :
Passport Renewal
All passports are to be renewed 10 years after the date of issuance and the following is required when
applicants keep their appointments :
- Expired Passport
- 3 Passport photographs (Full frontal face view)
- Marriage certificate (if applicant needs to change her maiden name to her
married name)
- Birth Certificate (If included in mother's passport)
- Legal Documents if you need to change your name, eg. Birth certificate,
affidavit of amendment.
- Resident Alien Card (Green Card) or any other ID
- A fee specified in cash or money order only
Passport Extensions
All passports are required to be extended after 5 years from the date of
issuance with the following requirements:
- Current Passport
- Marriage Certificate (if applicant needs to change her maiden name to her
married name)
- A Fee specified in cash or Money Order only.
Certificate of Identity
Those people who have lost their passports and are required to travel
urgently following document are required.
- Resident Alien Card (Green Card) or any other photo ID or birth
certificate
- 3 Passport Photographs (full frontal view)
- A fee of specified in cash or Money Order only
- The certificate of identity is valid for a one-way journey.
Lost Passports
The following must be submitted to the Immigration Office either
directly or with assistance from relatives or through contact
with the Consulate General.
- Full names as were written exactly in the lost passport
- Place and date of birth
- Place and date of issuance of lost passport (if possible)
- Number of lost passport (if possible)
- Residence telephone number
