Malawi Visa

An application for a new Malawian passport will require completion of an application and payment of fees. For further details and other travel related information, contact the consular section of the Malawian embassy or the Malawian consulate nearest to you.

Required supporting documents might include and are not limited to any of the following:

• Birth certificate
• Certificates of identity
• Proof of citizenship
• Passport-size photographs
• Self addressed stamped envelope

Entry Requirements : For US citizens only.

A passport, return ticket, and adequate funds are required. A 30-day visa, which can be extended up to an additional 60 days, is issued at point of entry. There is an airport departure tax (payable only in U.S. dollars) for all non-Malawians.

In an effort to prevent international child abduction, many governments have initiated procedures at entry/exit points. These often include requiring documentary evidence of relationship and permission for the child's travel from the parent(s) or legal guardian not present. Having such documentation on hand, even if not required, may facilitate entry/departure.

Passport Requirement for Malawi :

Passport valid for at least six months beyond date of intended departure required by all.
