Denmark Passport Applications

An application for a Danish passport is filed at the Embassy of Denmark in Ottawa or at a Consulate of Denmark closest to where you live. The Application must be made in person. An application form is available at the Embassy of Denmark in Ottawa or the Consulate of Denmark closest to you.

The following are the procedures for applying for a

  • passport for an adult (over 18 years of age)
  • passport for a minor (under 18 years of age)

  1. Adult passport (over 18 years of age)

    You must be able to provide identification when you file a passport application.

    The following documentation is required:

    • Completed passport application (do not forget to sign the application, give your height in cm, and complete the lower section of the application);
    • The previous passport (valid or expired);
    • A police report if the previous passport has been lost or stolen;
    • Two photographs (black and white or colour) 35 x 45 mm. The head of the person must take up between 25 and 35 mm. Furthermore the photo has to be taken in semiprofile (body turned to the camera at an angle of app. 40% and so that both eyes and either the left or the right ear and side of the face are visible on the photo).
    • A prepaid envelope (registered mail/express post/priority post/courier)

  2. Passport for minors (under 18 years of age)

    Note that A Child Born In Canada To A Danish Parent acquires both Canadian and Danish citizenship. Between their 21st birthday and before their 22nd birthday an application should be made in order not to lose the Danish citizenship.     The following documentation is required:

    • Completed passport application (do not forget the height of the child in cm and to complete the lower section of the application). Both parents must sign page 3 in the application form;
    • If the child has its' own passport (valid or expired) it must be presented;
    • The parents' passports;
    • A police report if the previous passport has been lost or stolen;
    • Bring two photographs (black and white or colour) 35 x 45 mm. The head of the person must take up between 25 and 35 mm. Furthermore it has to be taken in semi-profile (body turned to the camera at an angle of app. 40% and so that both eyes and either the left or the right ear and side of the face are visible on the photo).
    • If the parents are divorced a copy of the custody documents;
    • Birth certificate. If the child is born in Canada a copy of the birth certificate indicating both parents' names ("the long form")
    • The child should sign the passport application if it is able to write.
    • A prepaid envelope (registered mail/express post/priority post/courier)

The fee has to be paid by money order, certified cheque or cash.

Passport valid for three months after the last day of stay required by all except the following :

  • Nationals of Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden in possession of identification papers (eg drivers licence or identity card), provided travelling entirely within Scandinavia;
  • Nationals of other EU countries holding a valid national ID card and holders of a Gibraltar Identity Card issued to British Citizens or British Dependent Citizens for tourist visits of up to three months.

Note : . For nationals of EU countries and the USA, passports need to be valid for duration of stay.
